Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Understand the advantages and potential safety issues to be considered when performing venous surgery in the office.
- Use ultrasound to diagnose and manage venous disease.
- Describe endovenous (thermal, chemical, surgical) modalities for closure of the refluxing saphenous vein.
- Describe and choose the best therapy for the eradication of secondary venous clusters with phlebectomy, foam sclerotherapy or surgical devices.
- Manage incompetent perforating veins and venous ulcers in the office.
- Manage and choose the most appropriate therapy for spider telangiectasias using sclerotherapy and cutaneous laser.
- Diagnose and choose the most appropriate treatment option of deep vein thrombosis in hypercoagulable states.
- Describe the application of fluoroscopic equipment in the office and how it aids in the management of venous disease and pelvic congestion syndrome.
- Incorporate modern cosmetic enhancements such as dermal fillers and botulinum into an office based practice.
- Develop a business model for the office based vein practice to increase fiscal efficiency and economic responsibility.
Target Audience
IVC will be of value to vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, general surgeons, phlebologists, interventional cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiologists, plastic surgeons, dermatologists, physician assistant, nurse practitioners, technologists, administrative and support staff and other medical professionals currently treating venous disease or who wish to expand into this arena.
